Bridesmaids

Kristen Wiig - you are a delight!
I think the best thing about Bridesmaids are the characters. I either related with them or knew people just like them. Like the obnoxiously perfect Helen (Rose Byrne). Yea, I knew a Helen.
One of the pleasant surprises about this movie was Chris O'Dawd from The IT Crowd! One of my favorite British comedies! It was great to see him not in front of a computer, but I kept hearing him say "have you turned it off and on again" in my head.
There were scenes in the film where I was both uncomfortable but laughing. That's quite a feat! Bridesmaids has some genuine laughs and real truths.
I especially liked the subtle analogy O'Dawd's character made between Wiig's broken brake lights and her current situation in life.
I'm really excited to see R-rated comedies that are good and not just raunchy, gross-out guys films.
Not that I don't like that kind of stuff. It's just good to see it evolve into something solid, and real but still unafraid.
