Bryan Singer Considers Returning to X-Men
October 14th 2009 03:56
I believe the first X-Men movie (2000) ushered in the decade of the superhero film. Since then we've seen some great super powered movies (The Dark Knight, Iron Man) and we've seen some duds (Hulk, Spider-Man 3)
But as a whole, I'm a fan of superhero movies. I think fondly of Bryan Singer and his role in bringing some of my favorite superheros (Wolverine, Proff. X) to the big screen.
When he didn't return for X-Men 3, I knew we were in trouble. Instead he took a stab at DC Comics with Superman Returns (Am I the only one who liked this film?)
In this article he discusses the possibility of returning to the mutants.
My only question: is this a good thing or a bad thing?
The Good: He brought us the first two X-Men films which rank among the best superheroes film made this decade. Without him we've witnessed two duds (Wolverine and X3).
The Bad: Sam Raimi made two good Spider-Man films and then screwed up the third. So having the same director may not be the best thing.
I personally think Singer's return would be good. He has a sleek style that suits the X-Men. And I believe he's been away so long that he could do the franchise some good.
Will he actually return? Probably not. But we will see.
