Insidious

I'm not a huge fan of horror movies but I'll watch a few a year to get me accustomed to the genre. My friends tempted me with this one by dropping the names of the lead actors (Rose Byrne & Patrick Wilson <3) and the writer behind Paranormal Activity.
I like a good ghost story. I use to love hearing them around a campfire as a kid. And those ghost themed Unsolved Mysteries- nothing better. So the first half of the movie was pretty good. The film had a few good jump-in-my-seat moments which I prefer over gory thrills (personal preference).
There was a nice dash of comedy! I liked the 'ghost hunter' type duo. Nice funny nod to Jason and Grant from the Sci-Fi channel.
Unfortunately, the last part of the film didn't live up to the first half. Just seemed to get random and silly. Seriously, Darth Maul demon?
SPOILERS! The film's unique plot point was astral projection. I thought that was a nice touch. Over all the film wasn't fantastic but wasn't a waste of time either.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
the ending was disappointing, and overall, it had very few moments that built tension.
A pity, for as you state, it showed some promise at the beginning.
