Disney Buys Marvel Entertainment (and some random thoughts on Iron Man 2)
September 1st 2009 06:16
So on the top of the entertainment news Disney is going to buy up Marvel Entertainment for a whopping 4 billion dollars.
Apparently, Disney needs to identify more with boys since all of its creations (Hannah Montana, High School Musical, etc) have been more effective with the little girls...and one of my good guy friends from college.
I don't have too many deep thoughts on the subject. I hope that Disney won't interfere with the plans for the multi-Avengers movies that are to be released. Marvel Entertainment plans to make a couple more Iron Man movies, a Thor film, a Giant Man or Wasp film, and my personal favorite- A Captain America movie. And then there will be a big-arse Avengers movie.
It's gunna be so awesome!!
So I just hope Disney doesn't screw that up. Certainly not. I mean, Disney owns Miramax and Pixar, so we should be ok.
On a side note, I was able to view some footage from Iron Man 2 - Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson are fan-freaking-tastic! I'm a little concerned about the baddie and I'm very concerned about Scarlett Johansson. I love the Black Widow, and I just can't see Johansson as the Russian spy - even after seeing her in a few quick clips. But maybe I'll be surprised.
According to IMDb Edward Norton is reprising his role as Bruce Banner in Iron Man 2. I did not know this. I'm so excited!! Maybe this makes up for Scarlett Johansson.

Greed & Vanity
It's seems a little odd that marvel finally finnances their own movie (In Iron Man) and turns a tidy profit and has an established brand, just to sell to disney.
Sony made all the cash on the Spiderman franchise. I think it's a bad move with all the avenger tie in movies in the works.
Hint possible spoiler... Hulk was a member of the Avengers.
