Why I Didn't Like Precious
January 26th 2010 08:59
It’s a brilliant film and a deeply moving story. The visuals effectively portrayed her world- I was scared, horrified, angry. I felt what Precious felt. I saw the bad in her life and I understood her longings.
It ended with hope- not overwhelming hope but rather personal hope.
So why will I never watch it again?
Perhaps for the same reason it was so good. It was such an intimate walk through this tragic life that I don’t think I’m willing to go for a second trip. The film is dark and almost completely without hope. But like I said before- there was hope, but not a whole lot.
From a storytelling perspective I just needed some humor, I needed some hope, I needed something a little less like real life. This film was like Slumdog Millionare, but without the rewarding ending.
So brilliant acting, effective visuals, but too dark for me to endure another viewing.
Don't forget to follow this link and rate my film review of Inglourious Basterds. I'm losing now! Help!
