Prince of Persia review

I guess it's hard to find a big summer blockbuster that isn't full of border-line fake CGI, forced romantic chemistry and genuine thrills.
This movie tried really hard- too hard I suppose. Althoug, I must admit that it was better then most video game to movie adaptations.
The action sequences were entertaining, but they relied too heavily on CGI when old-fashioned stuntmen and literal special effects would've been more effective. During some scenes I actually laughed at the obvious computerized background.
I like Jake Gyllenhall- but I prefer him as a tortured teen or a gay cowboy, even if his arms were incredible in this movie. The filmmakers tried to make his character both Will Turner an Capt. Jack Sparrow. The end result only succeeded in making Prince Dastan forgettable and boring.
And don't get me started on the so-called 'romance' in this movie. If there's one thing in films that I despise it's bad chemistry between the love interests. Jake had better chemistry with Heath Ledger (and honestly who wouldn't?) then Gemma Arterton. And if they 'playfully' called each other 'prince' or 'princess' one more time I was gunna throw my flip-flop at the screen.
Oh, and I can't forget to mention the painful script and the annoying whitewashing.
I walked away from this one feeling much like I did when I walked away from The Clash of the Titans. I was ok with the action but I never want to watch it again.
