The Shining and Ghost Hunters

No. I hadn't seen this movie before a month ago. But I've gotta admit...this video makes sooo much more sense now!
There are actually quite a few classic films that I haven't seen. I'm slowly recognizing these holes in my film history and trying to fill them in.
I must say this film was brilliantly directed. I'm a fan of Kubrick's style and this film was definitely some of his best work. The use of wide shots and aerial views added to the feeling of solitude and isolation.
And the sets were breathtaking!
I guess the thing - or rather the person - that bugged me the most was Jack Nicholson. I just thought he was crazy throughout the entire movie. I mean, I know the whole point was this man losing his mind, but I felt like he had already lost his mind prior to walking into the hotel. When he began to act looney I wasn't at all surprised or frightened.
And I hated Shelley Duvall's wardrobe! I cringed every time she had a new outfit on.
So two reasons to watch this one and one reason to skip!
1.) Kubrick's legendary directing style
2.) Beautiful and memorable sets and scenes
---
3.) Better build up to Jack Nicholson's insanity. I'm sure some people will argue with me but I just needed more of a degression.
For fun, after we watched this movie we watched the special Ghost Hunters episode where they stayed two nights in the hotel that inspired Stephen Kings novel. Great episode! I'd recommend it to anyone!
