I Friended 'The Social Network'

BAZINGA! Yea, I know my titles are either really boring or really dumb. I just can't resist sometimes.
The Social Network is one of those movies where I wrongly predicted the quality of the film based on the trailer. I hated the trailer. It looked boring with all the intense music and quick cuts about...facebook. I just couldn't get excited.
Boy, was I wrong. I like it when I'm wrong about trailers though, keeps me on my toes.
So this is the movie about Facebook. It's based on the 'nonfictional' book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich. Mark Zuckerberg and his staff at Facebook had nothing to do with its production. Only Eduardo Saverin was a consultant. So how much of it has hints of truth? I believe it's a bit early in the social networks life to find out any concrete facts about its birth.
Anyways, how was it? I was really put off by the first 20 minutes of the film. I instantly hated Mark Zuckerberg. He reminded me of a few socially awkward, sexists programmers I used to know in school. But as the film progressed I grew fond of him and his band of computer geeks.
Generally, the film succeeded on most levels. Believable, well-written characters, a snappy deep script, and an creatively flowing plot. I particularly liked the cinematography of this film; it added to the atmosphere.
I believe the main reason I enjoyed this film is its contribution to my generation. I'm a little obsessed with the Millennials out how we differ on the technology scale from our parents.
I was slightly inspired by the success of Zuckerberg. One of my favorite lines from the film went something like this, "while others are out looking for jobs, Harvard students are creating new ones." Sure, they're talking about Harvard students but I can still apply this to other successful peers of my generation.
The film also had themes of friendship, paranoia and betrayal. All of which are subtle enough that they're not overwhelming.
So yes, I definitely made a wrong judgement about the trailer to this film. One of the better movies of 2010.
PS: Just for fun, if you go see it, count the number of product placements used. My friend found the number of product logos amusing.
