Tangled

January 8th 2011 22:25
I watched Tangled quite a while ago- I believe it might've been the week it came out. My friends are huge Zachary Levi and Disney fans so we just had to see this one. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have seen this one independently.

I'm glad I did! It's films like Tangled and The Princess and the Frog that remind me how much I love traditional Disney films. Obviously, this one wasn't traditional in the sense that it was CGI and not hand-drawn. The feel and storyline reminded me of Aladdin or Pocahontas sans the original, catchy tunes.

All the characters were funny and unique. There were some definite moments when our group of rag-tag adults were LOLing (even when the rest of the theater was quiet). If there was one glaring fault it was the music. Like I said earlier- the feel was very Disney circ.1990s but without the winning music. There was music in Tangled but it was odd and forgettable.

Overall this was a great family film- good for kids and kids-who-are-now-paying-bills -have-jobs (AKA adults).

That's interesting that you mention that about the music and compare it specifically to Aladdin and to Pocahontas xD Because Alan Menken did the soundtrack for both of those movies, and for Tangled as well. I actually kinda liked the music, though I'll admit it wasn't quite as up to par as it was back in the day. Speaking about the score, at least. The vocal numbers, on the other hand... I really liked "Now I See The Light" and especially "Mother Knows Best." But that's just the music nerd in me xD

Shoulda known you'd be the leading expert on Disney tunes.

I agree on the score- but the vocal numbers didn't do it for me. Not bad at all- just forgettable.

BTWs you have a blog! Subscribing like no ones bizzness!

Haha. I haven't decided what to put in it yet. Maybe once I graduate and have some time, I'll start reviewing young adult novels or something?

I love this movie! I agree. The few decent things i've seen from diseny lately since the 90s were princess and the frog and tangled. I lvoe the humor in Tangled...so vey realistic and some adult humor as Spongebob (sometimes) I really love how they called the movie "Tangled"It's very creative because "Repunzel" would hve been too perdictable. And she is a pretty princess..younger than I expected. Yeah..the music is okay, but forgetable.not that i care. Young kids today think they're getting it, btu if they haveb't seen the older diseny movies like 'Bambi', they need to play catch up
