The Losers review

So...I guess I was wrong. In my trailer review I raved about how great and entertaining the trailer for The Losers seemed. It was funny, had a lot of action, and showed a clear plot without telling us everything.
Friday night I ventured out of my usual theater to see this one. And I liked it, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as good as the trailer made it out to be.
The problem with The Losers was the filmmakers failure to commit. The movie was alternately funny/crazy and serious. There were a few moments where I wondered, "should I laugh?". If the script had been a little more 'silly' then the funny violent moments would have been entertaining and not awkward. There were also too many "wff" moments. Scenes that were unnecessary or too long and awkward.
I think what saved this movie for me were the actors. Specifically Zoe Saldana, Jeffery Dean Morgan and Chris Evans. Actually all the actors were great. When the script called for cheesy action lines they made it work.
The script really had some great moments(aside from the action-cheese) which allowed these actors to shine. My favorite scene is when Chris Evan's character Jensen infiltrated a building to get information. It's just a hilarious scene! You see some of it in the trailer (hand guns shooting people). Honestly, he and Cougar (The sniper guy played by Oscar Jaenada) stole the show. I wanted there to be a spin off film of with the awkward-computer geek and the silent-but-deadly sniper expert on an epic action-packed bromance!
Jeffery Dean Morgan always plays the tough leader well, and Zoe Saldana is quickly becoming one of my favorite actresses!
So I would recommend this movie if you are in the mood for an entertaining, funny but slightly mindless action movie- only don't expect too much. Just take it for what it is.
