Two out of Three

My title is rather vague but I don't think, "This Past Decade is Responsible for Successfully Rebooting Two out of Three of my Childhood Loves" would work. The three being Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Star Wars.
Unlike other little girls, I used to watch Spock and The Doctor every chance I got. I was Captain Kirk when my brother and I played make-believe outside. And Those Barbies? Well, they were all The Doctors companions.
So these past few years have been a trip to my childhood.
In 2005 Russell T. Davies successfully rebooted Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. When me and my brother watched our first episode we were blown away. It had everything we loved about the original plus so much more! The plots were well written, the aliens looked like aliens, and the actors were superb. When The Doctor regenerated into David Tennant I was skeptical but he quickly won me over.
We've enjoyed four years of the new Doctor Who. Next year will bring a lot of changes but I'll be onboard with an open mind.
This year rebooted Spock and Kirk. I never thought Star Trek would ever be cool again (heck, I never thought Daleks would ever be cool). After the last TV show Enterprise was cancelled I thought that was it. I do remember thinking that the franchise needed to die a little bit before being revived. But I never thought it would be this good. I've said it once, and I'll say it again, Star Trek was the best movie of the summer.
Now Star Wars...not so much. I remember thinking that the prequels were going to be the second coming but I was completely wrong. I know that there are some people who like the prequels but I'm definitely not one of them. Maybe a successful reboot needs new writers and new vision (Like with J.J. Abrams and Russel T. Davies). I love George Lucas but he's jumped the shark a few too times in his career.
