Wanted - Feel Good Movie of the Year
August 21st 2008 12:32
From the director of 'Night Watch' and... 'Day Watch' comes 'Wanted', based loosely on the comic. Ok, let me define 'loose', the comic is based on the idea "that all the world's super-villains decided to band together in 1986 and use their vast collective powers" the movie is about assassins in the present day.
Well let me elaborate: today there are a bunch of super assassins who come from long ago, they are the quote unquote weapons of fate and it is their purpose in life to kill bad people before they can commit great evils. Amongst these super assassins is a super duper assassin who is killed by a regular super assassin, granted not everything is as it seems and if you haven't figured out how the story is going to end after ten minutes into the movie then you really need to start learning to think for yourself.
Now the protagonist has a girlfriend who badgers him, at one point Angelina Jolie kisses the protagonist to make the now ex-girlfriend jealous and honestly, the girlfriend is prettier than Jolie, I don't get it. But then again, I don't get why 'Wanted' does not have 'feel good' as one of the keywords on IMDB.
See at its heart it's about a man whose a loser in life until he finds his feet, when he does he starts kicking some serious ass, he does have a minor hiccup in his ass kicking process but he comes back in the end of the film to kick even more major ass with elaborately choreographed action sequences which sadly suffers at times from hiccupity camera syndrome (you know where the camera is anything but still). Still things can be smooth at parts, there's bullet bending and some crazy car stunts...
Actually that is another problem Wanted has, the entire action part of the movie is the trailer, if you want action just watch the trailer, if you want to feel good watch the movie, if you want to see Angelina Jolie's ass then seriously, no, just no, screw you, yes, her ass is in the movie, but seriously, no, just no. If you watch it for her female nudity then you suck and I hope you meet an untimely end.
If you're going to actually watch this movie, watch it for the feel good aspect. It is, after all, the feel good movie of the year.

The biggest reason I can see for seeing this film is Angelina's face... her butt I can live without seeing. I doubt I'll see it, though.
I have a feeling I'd enjoy what you gripe over as 'hiccupy camera syndrome'... I love my quick-paced MTV-style shots! Now why does THAT not surprise me? *Giggle*
And finally, since I'd wager that Angelina Jolie is probably 80% of people's fantasy material, I must see the woman who plays the girlfriend... hehehe.
