Is the message you're going to get from the two new James Bond movies. You might argue this is true or near true for other renditions of James Bond but the newer ones are an exception in that they take themselves too seriously. You can kill and rape women but if it's tongue in cheak then it's black comedy, when you make a character who is supposedly a cold hearted killer and deny him the gadgetry he was afforded in previous movies he was featured in then you're doing it wrong.
Perhaps I'm just annoyed Casino Royale was pretty much a propaganda flick about how 'even the Prime Minister isn't stupid enough to ask us what we do' and the media is full of 'self righteous' jerks who dare question the actions of a secretative organization which recruits cold blooded killers. I wouldn't have a problem if the aforementioned cold blooded killers had fancy gadgetry and for those interested, a fidgety defribliator does not qualify as fancy gadgetry.
But really, you know a movie is doing something wrong when the bad guy American CIA dude looks like a certain ex-US ambassador to the UN.
